VIDEO: Second Saturdays Snapshot 2017

02/02/2018

Please take a minute (3 and a half infact) to watch this video and take a moment to look back over a snapshot of last years Second Saturdays...... and a few bits and bobs in between! Never has it been more apparent how infectious creativity is! Record breaking, international, award winning, perception changing, friendship making - the possibilities are endless. Thank you for putting this together Boris Seagal, not only do we anticipate this being quite the task but sometimes we can get caught up in the next creative adventure and forget just how far we have come and what we have collectively achieved.

For those not so familiar:
Second Saturdays is.....
- The Second Saturday of every month
- Capturing imaginations and inspiring lifestyles
- Shouting about the fantastic wealth of talent in the Morecambe Bay Area; putting local artists in the spotlight
- Providing regular FREE access for all ages and abilities to a diverse range of art and creative disciplines
- Bringing people together and building community through art

Our Second Saturday programme has evolved over the course of The Exchange's journey so far; by the community, for the community. From our first ever artist-led workshop in paper-cutting by James Attwood to cyanotype photography by Mark Aston; developing on from the success of such workshops in terms of interest in exhibitions and workshop opportunities, we built this into our core regular offer under the Second Saturday identity. Kudos to Rosemary Tacon Glass for doing the first ever official Second Saturday!

Artists are invited to exhibit and sell their artwork in a showcase exhibition at The Exchange accompanying a Second Saturday workshop complimenting their exhibition. This is done so under The Exchange principle where the artist will sell their work commission free receiving 100% of sales in store, in exchange for delivering the one off workshop for people to attend for free. This is how it all began and enabled us to turn a wistful terrace into the creative community hotspot we now know it.

Delighted to reveal we are booked up until March 2019! Look forward to updating the calendar and firing out dates for your diary in the coming months.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the artists that have contributed to the vision and making the dream a reality so far! We really are much greater than the sum of our parts.
