HIGH TEAS & HOLIDAYS:
YOUR MORECAMBE HOLIDAY MEMORIES WANTED FOR NEW ARTS AND HERITAGE PROJECT.
Do you have a great story to share about holidays in Morecambe as a youngster? Were you or was someone you know a seaside guest or boarding house landlady in Morecambe? Do you have photos or memorabilia of Morecambe's holiday past 1900-1960? Maybe you have some vintage Morecambe postcards with lovely handwritten messages?
Artists Carol and Johnny Bean want your memories and stories of Morecambe for a new arts and heritage project, 'High Teas & Holidays' planned for later in the year. Working in partnership with the Exchange Creative Community in West Street, Morecambe, your memories, postcards, holiday memorabilia, guest house salvage and ephemera will be used as inspiration for new artworks. The project will explore Morecambe's heritage as a seaside holiday resort in the first half of the Twentieth Century, paying homage to the hard-working seaside landlady and the role of the humble seaside postcard - the social media phenomena of its' day. This will be an engaging, creative installation across a number of community venues including Trinity Methodist Church on the Promenade.
Come and meet Carol, Johnny and members of the Exchange for an informal chat and a coffee at The Exchange Creative Community on West Street in the West End of Morecambe on Wednesday February 7th from 1-4pm or at Morecambe Central library on Saturday 10th February from 11-2pm. You can also engage with the project and post your memories on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/highteasandholidays or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
Further events and memory gathering days will be planned across the year.
